As its name implies, Amici was born out of a relationship of two lifelong friends who yearned to some day open an Italian restaurant. In 2001 Maryann Longo and Lorraine Rizzo opened the home style eatery in Boston’s North End. But, tragedy struck two years later when Lorraine met an untimely death shattering the dream.
Today, Amici is back. Maryann’s two daughters, Tracy Costa and Lynn Bova have made it their business to complete the Amici story. Guests can expect to be greeted at the door by Maryann who will share a story or two as well as a glass of wine. Also returning is our notable chef Sonny whose elaboration classic Italian cuisine is sure to tempt palettes. One patron recently commented, “Every dish is a masterpiece – so beautiful to look at that you almost don’t want to eat it!! Sonny is the Picasso of food!”
Not one to miss out on a dinner celebration, Richie, Maryann’s husband, can often be found mingling with diners at the restaurant. In true Italian style, the entire Longo family beckons guests to join them for dinner at Amici, where friends meet friends.
